Career
Worked as waiter in Moscow and Saint St. Petersburg. 1912-1913 co-founder and chairman. Restaurant Trades Workers Union.
1913 represented union in Steering Commission of Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) faction in 4th State Duma. April 1914 arrested with other members of this commission and exiled to his native village. After 1917 February Revol Vyborg Soviet deleg at 2nd Finnish Oblast Congress of Soviets.
Chairman, Army Committee of 42nd Corps. Deputy, Petrograd Soviet. Member, Bolshevik Military Organization(s) in Vyborg.
October 1917 controlled Vyborg garrison. February 1918 took part in revol in Finland. September 1918—January 1919 military comissar, Spasskiy Rayon and assistant chairman, Spasskiy Rayon Executive Committee.
From February 1919 comissar, Petrograd Separate Brigade. Fought against Yudenich’s troops and was surrounded along with regt staff
