1919 graduated Kiev Institute of Music and Drama.
While still a student acted in shows at Shevchenko Drama Theater, Kiev. Since 1922 at “Berezil” Theater, now the Shevchenko Ukrainia Academy Theater, graduated Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History. 1948 completed postgrad, course at Moscow University.
1941-1945 in Soviet Army. Specialist in general linguistics and Finno-Ugrian, Turkic and Indo-European languages. 1950 published first work on language theory in “Pravda”.
Most of hist, works deal with Finno-Ugrian philology: Publ.: “Volgookskaya toponimika na territorii yevropeyskoy chasti USSR” (The Volga-Ok Toponymy in the Territory of the European USSR) (1955). “O prirode proshedshego neochevidnogo v permskom i mariyskikh yazykakh” (The Nature of the Reported Past in the Perm and Mari Languages) (1955). “K voprosu о kolichestve padezhey v chuvashskom yazyke” (The Number of Cases in the Chuvash Language) (1955).
Doctor’s thesis “Kategoriya vremeni i vida v finno-ugorskikh yazykakh permskoy i volzhskoy grupp” (The Category of Tense and Aspect in the Finno-Ugrian Languages of the Perm and Volga Group) (2 parts 1956).
