1878-1881 studied at Law Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University.
While still at school acted in amateur productions. 1876 professional stage debut. 1877 began to write plays.
1878-1879 acted at clubs in Saint St. Petersburg. 1881 at Moscow’s Brenko Theater. 1882—1909 actor, 1909 — 18 co-manager, 1918 Council chairman, 1919-1923 chairman of directorate, 1923-1926 director, from 1926 Honorary director, Maly Theater.
After 1917 October Revol worked for Theatrical Department, People's Commissariat of Education and for Centr Theater Board, et cetera Lectured and wrote articles on theater, advocating realistic art and classic dramaturgy. Roles: Dunois in Schiller’s 'The Maid of Orleans” (1884).
