In 1960, Aleksandr Timofeyevich graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Voronezh State University. In 1985, he became Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He received the title of professor in 1986.
In 1960-1963, Aleksandr Timofeyevich was an engineer at Electromechanics Research Institute. Since 1967, he worked as a teacher and associate professor of physics of metals. Since 1983, Aleksandr Timofeyevich was the head of the department of extractive metallurgy and physics of metals of Voronezh Polytechnic Institute (now Voronezh State Technical University).
Aleksandr Timofeyevich is the head of the scientific school "Alloys with Shape Memory and Computer Simulation in Material Science". He is the author of more than 180 works, including such books as "Computer Simulation of Amorphous Metals and Metal-Metalloid Alloys" (Voronezh-Nevinnomyssk, 2004).
