Education

Graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute, 1952.

Career

Began as a forewoman, and became department head in a Moscow factory. Responsible for consumer goods production, food industry and light industry. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since 1976.

Secretary and Deputy Chairwoman of the Central Council of Trade Unions, 1968-1985. Elected to the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union on 6 March, 1986. Non-voting member of the Politburo, October 1988.

Religion

The hierarchical structure of most religions is anti-democratic, and thus offends basic human rights.
