1910-1911 studied at Saint St. Petersburg School of Stagecraft. 191 1-13 at Munich Theater Academy. Simultaneously practical work at Munich Arts Theater under Reinhardt, et cetera
1914-1917 abroad, studying stagecraft.
1914 began work as stage director at Riga New Theater with Verhaeren’s ’’Philip II”. This was followed in 1918 by the staging of ’’Macbeth" and Sophocles’ ’’King Oedipus" at the Petrograd State Circus. Operas "Faust” and "Sadko" at Petrograd Bolshoy Theater.
1921 at Moscow Circus staged Meyakovskiy’s Misterii buf (Mystery Bouffc). 1919 in Petrograd founded Jewish Theater Studio, which in 1920 was transferred to Moscow and reorganized into State Jewish Chamber Theater. Until 1929 artistic manager of this theater.
