Education
Studied at Leipzig and Munich University. 1913 graduate Philological Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University.
Career
1917-1920 taught history of West European lit at Tomsk University and 1920-1939 at Leningrad Herzen Teachers’ Training Institute. From 1920 foundcr-chairman, Theater History and Theory Department, Petrograd State Institute of History of Arts (now Leningrad State Theater, Music and Cinematography Research Institute). Introduced a new discipline into the curriculum of higher educational institutions: - history of West European theater.
