From 1917 taught physics and mathematics at high-schools in Moscow. 1919 began pedag research. Head, Moscow Department of Professional Training.
Head. Teachers’ Training Department, Main Professional Training Board. Head, Editor Section, State Publishing House. From 1941 in charge of research work at Institute of Theoretical Physics.
Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. 1945-1946 Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Deputy People's Commissar of Education. 1946-1948 Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People's Commissar of Education.
From 1948 worked at Institute of Geophysics, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. From 1953 senior associate, Institute of Teaching Methods, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Academy of Pedagogical Sciences. Deputy, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Soviet of 2nd convocation.
Specialized in pedag theory and methods of teaching physics in secondary schools and polytechnicums. Wrote numerous works on the pedag process, the public educational and workers’ polytechnic systems, the practical training of students, et cetera 1927-1929 ed, “Pedagogicheskaya entsiklopediya” (3 volume).
Did research on the design and utilization of visual aids for physics teaching and trade training. Also did considerable work on theoretical physics and geophysics.
