KOSYGIN, Aleksey was born in 1904 in St. Petersburg.

Education

1924 graduated Leningrad Cooperative Technicum. 1935 graduated Leningrad Textile Institute.

Career

1924-1930 instructor, Irkutsk Oblast Union, then board member, Lena Union, Irkutsk Oblast Consumers’ Cooperative, and Head, Planning Department, Siberian Kray Union. 1935-1937 foreman, then shop superintendent, Zhelyabov Plant, Leningrad. 1937-1938 Director, Oktyabr Spinning Mill, Leningrad, and Bureau member, Vyborg Rayon Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).

1938-1939 Chairman, Executive Committee, Leningrad City Soviet. 1939-1940 USSR Popular Commissar of Textile Industry. 1940-1946 Deputy Chairman, USSR Council of Popular Commissar.

1943-1946 simultaneously Chairman, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Council of Popular Commissar. 1946- September 1953 and December 1953-May 1960 Deputy Chairman, USSR Council of Ministers. 1946-1948 simultaneously candidate member, and 1948-1952 member, Political Bureau, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).

1948-1953 USSR Minister of Finance, then USSR Minister of Light Industry. 1953-1954 USSR Minister of Consumer Goods Industry. 1956-1957 Deputy Chairman, State Economics Commission.

1957-1959 Deputy Chairman, USSR State Planning Committee. 1957- May 1960 candidate Presidium Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. 1959-May 1960 Chairman, USSR State Planning Committee.

Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1946, 1950, 1954 and 1958 convocation. Deputy, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1947, 1951, 1955 and 1959 convocation. Repeatedly visited East European countries for sessions of Council for Mutual Economics Aid.

1959 headed Soviet government delegation Poland. 1961 visited India to sign agreement for further economics cooperation between USSR and India.

Religion

Religion doesn't give equal treatment to women and therefore contradicts basic human rights.
