Aleksey MAKSIMENKOV, USSR Surgeon and anatomist. Professor 1941; Doctor of Medicine Science since 1938; corresponding member, USSR Academy of Medical Science; Head, Chair of Operative Surgery, Leningrad Military Medicine Academy, since 1948. Stalin Prize, Class I, 1943; Burdenko Prize, 1956; orders; medals.


MAKSIMENKOV, Aleksey was born in 1906.


1931 graduated Leningrad Military Medicine Academy.


Со-Editor, “Surgery” section, “Bolshaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd cd. Deputy Editor, journal “Vestnik khirurgii im. I. I. Grekova” (Grekov Herald of Surgery).

Member, Editor Council, journal “Arkhiv anatomii, gistologii i embriologii” (Archives of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology). 1960 attended 7th International Congress of Anatomists in New York, and other congresses. Determined structural pattern of peripheral venous and nervous system in connection with the general construction of the organs and their functional roles.

Studied effects of surgery of the major arterial vessels and thoracic and abdominal viscera on the body’s physiological functions. Works deal with surgical anatomy of wounds of the extremities and the chest, and with hist, of Russ, surgery. 1933-1936 Assistant, Chair of Operative Surgery, 1937-1940 instructor, 1941-1947 Professor, Leningrad Military Medicine Academy.
