Professor; Doctor of Medicine Science since 1913. Full member, USSR Academy of Science, since 1939. Full member, USSR Academy of Medical Science, since 1944.
Honoured Worker of Science Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1934. Head,Department of General and Experimental Pathology, Institute of Normal and Pathological Physiology, USSR Academy of Medical Science, since 1959. Major-General, Medicine Branch, retired after World War II.
Founded own school of pathophysiologists, based on theories of Academy I. P. Pavlov, N. V. Vvedensky, and A. A. Ukhtomsky. Developed theory of nervous dystrophies. Devised original method of freezing separate portions of cerebral cortex to analyze genesis of epileptic fits.
Developed method of studying circulation of cerebrospinal fluid in submucous space and perineural slits.
