Office worker; 1911 began revol work in Chernigov. During World War 1 worked for Petrograd Party organisation. After 1917 February Revol leading member, Syzran’ Party Organisation
Delegation at 6th Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Congress. Helped muster Red Guard units in Volga area. 1918-1921 fought in Civil War.
1918 with Polit Department, Eastern Front. 1919 commanded brigade of 42nd Division. After Civil War Party work.
Head, Department of Agitation and Propaganda, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Delegation at 13th—17th All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congresses. At 13th and 14th Congresses elected member, Centr Control Commission.
At 16th and 17th Congresses elected member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Arrested by State Security organs.
