On 4 May 2015, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 578. On 11 August 2014, she peaked at world number 200 in the doubles rankings. Fomina made her Women's Tennis Association tour debut at the 2014 Topshelf Open, partnering Christina Shakovets in doubles, but lost her first round match against Maria Kirilenko and Yanina Wickmayer.
