Alessandro Colombo graduated in Law in 1985 and in Political Sciences in 1989 at the University of Milan and got the PhD in International Relations from the University of Padova in 1995.

Colombo is full professor of International Relations at the University of Milan since 2006, as well as Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Observatory on “Security and Strategic Studies” at the Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale (Ispi). He has published books, chapters and articles in several areas, including security studies, theory of alliances, transatlantic relations, and the European tradition of International Relations Theory.
