Career
Amancio joined the Ubisoft Montreal team in 2005 as Art Director. On Far Cry 2, he led the art team and spearheaded an innovative shader system that became the foundations of the Dunia engine graphical pipeline. This innovative technique was soon turned into an Autodesk Master Class, for which Amancio delivered several conferences across the globe.
Amancio was born in the city of Braga, Portugal on February 26, 1976.
In 1979, they emigrated to Montreal, Canada. Alex was three years old.
Growing up in Montreal"s the rich francophone culture, Amancio learned French as his second language and would soon pick up English from film and television, early passions of his. In 1982, Amancio"s father took him to see a double feature of Star Wars, episodes IV and V, and inadvertently ignited a lifelong passion for rich, creative universes that would grow into Amancio"s career.
Amancio dropped out of college, where he was studying pure and applied science, and signed up for a degree in the new and burgeoning field of computer graphics.
After graduating, Amancio embarked on a career in the field of military flight simulators, but his need for a creative environment and his passion for film, television and video games, eventually drove him to apply for a lead artist role at Microids, a modest local video game company. Amancio would learn the trade at Microids while leading the art teams on two separate games. He would also earn his first writing cartulary-register
In 2005, Amancio joined Ubisoft.
