He has also had roles in other television series: Awkward (2011). Ray Donovan (2013–2015). The Advocates (2013).
And The Mentalist (2015).
His work on big screen productions have been in The Olivia Experiment (2012), Chapman (2013), and Compound Fracture (2013). In 2013, it was announced that Saxon had been hired for a recurring role in The Fosters, an American Broadcasting Company Family drama created by Nuyorican Productions.
He also gained the recurring role of Max on the Music Television teen drama Finding Carter. The two roles have been compared, with Margaret Lyons on Vulture.com calling them both "free-spirited" and "mostly kind", and explained that each of the characters Saxon portrayed in the two series both had an unexpected sexual encounter with a female character.
But she added that this wasn"t to downplay Saxon, instead she said that he had a "surfy-sweetheart charm" in both The Fosters and Finding Carter.
Saxon was only initially hired for the pilot episode of Finding Carter, but was brought back on a recurring basis after show runner Terri Minsky enjoyed his first scene. He was later informed by Minsky that his character was to be killed off towards the end of the first season so as to be the show"s version of Ned Stark. But a month later, he was told that decision had been reversed as both Minsky and network executives found that Saxon as Max was so likeable.
Saxon appeared in Music Television promotional footage alongside his Finding Carter co-star Anna Jacoby-Heron for the channel"s Scream television series, in which actors from various Music Television series were seen dead on-screen.
