He came to the U. S. during his youth, and lived in New England untill 1859. The rest of his years were spent in St. Louis in architectural practice, where among other work he planned a four-story addition to the Equitable Building, increasing its height to ten stories. He also was employed as Supervising Architect for the U. S. Government on the old Custom House during the last four years of its erection.
