He was born at Middleberg in Walcheren, and on coming to Cornwall in 1632, lived in rented accomodation until 1639, when a new house was built at Larigan, between Penzance and Newlyn.

He was interested in the history of the manor and made copies of rent-rolls preserving information on the parishes of Madron, Street Buryan, and Street Levan as well as Alverton. He died at his residence on 12 April 1668 and is buried at Madron. The following is inscribed on his tomb:–
Belge me bred, Britain me breeding gave,Cornwall a wife, ten children and a grave.
One of Daniell"s manuscripts, known as the Rawlinson Master in Social Service, class C Number 789 is preserved in the Bodleian Library, Oxford.
