Educated in Italy and in American public schools. Qualified for Cambridge University, but did not enter. Began study of sculpture in academics of Carrara and Florence, Italy, followed by several years study at Rome and Paris.
Among notable works are marble portrait and pedestal at grave of John Howard Payne at Washington. Marble statues Bishop Pinkney, Margaret Haughrey, Senator B. H. Hill, General Garfield. Marble portrait group of two Cupples children, Saint Louis, Missouri.
