He worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature (1986-1991). In 1991 he was elected chairman of the Central Committee of Komsomol of Belarus, stayed in office (1992 Union of Youth of Belarus) until 1994.
In 1994 he became a member of the election headquarters of Alexander Lukashenko. After the victory of the latter became head of the department of social and political information of the Presidential Administration of Belarus.
