Alexander Graf Stackelberg
Artist name - Alexander Kravets has established himself as one of the most versatile operatic performers of his generation, specialising in the “Spieltenor” repertoire throughout the world.
Alexander’s recent and future engagements include his debut for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as the Policeman in a new production of The Nose directed by Barrie Kosky; Prince Nilski The Gambler for Opéra de Monte Carlo; Monostatos Die Zauberflöte for Teatro Massimo, Palermo and The Astrologer The Golden Cockerel in new productions for Opera Royal de La Monnaie and Teatro Real, Madrid.
Alexander has been acclaimed in the title role of The Nose by Shostakovich at the Aix en Provence Festival and Opéra de Lyon; he has also appeared as The Policeman The Nose at Staatsoper Berlin, Opéra de Lausanne, Dutch National Opera, and at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.
Alexander has also enjoyed great critical acclaim as the “Drunken Man” Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at La Scala, Milan, Teatro Real, Madrid, Teatro di San Carlo Napoli, Dutch National Opera, Grand Théâtre de Genève and Opéra National de Paris.
Recent highlights include the World Premiere of The Dog’s Heart as Sharikov and the Schoolmaster The Cunning Little Vixen at the Dutch National Opera; Kedrill The House From the Dead at the Teatro Real, Madrid; Monostatos Die Zauberflöte at La Fenice; Monsieur Triquet Eugene Onegin and Monostatos Die Zauberflöte at the Grand Théâtre de Genève; 2 Offizier Die Soldaten at Komische Oper, Berlin; and Sellem The Rake’s Progress at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf.
Alexander appears reguarly at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, more recently as Le Duc The Miserly Knight; Rustighello Lucrezia Borgia; Trabuco La Forza del Destino, Piet Le grand macabre, and Gastone La Traviata; and at the Opéra National de Paris as Graf Albert Die Todt Stadt and as Ser Toldo Franscesa da Rimini. Further engagements in Paris have included the role of Mozart in Mozart and Salieri at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the roles of Papiol and Trouvère in Re Orso at the Opéra Comique.
Alexander has also appeared at the Bayerische Staatsoper; Oper der Stadt, Bonn; Royal Opera House, Wallonie; Vlaamse Oper; Opéra de Toulon; Opéra Angers/Nantes and Teatro Comunale Bologna.
