Alexander Alekseevich Gribanovsky

Background

Alexander Gribanovsky was born on 6 August in 1873 in Bratki village, Borisoglebsky district, Tambov region, Russian Federation.

Education

Alexander was a student of the Tambov Theological Seminary in Tambov, Tambovskaya Oblast, Russian Federation in 1893.

Since 1897 he studied at Moscow Theological Academy in Moscow City, Russian Federation.

Career

Alexander Alekseevich Gribanovsky participated in the work of the Church Council in 1917-1918.

Since 1919 he was in exile. He led the Russian spiritual mission in Palestine from 1924 to 1935. He was the head of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad from 1936 to 1964).

In 1961 he lived in the USA and became the Metropolitan of East America and New York.
