Alexander Semionovich Lyakhov was born on July 28, 1952. He is Belarusian. His parents were Semion and Anastasiya.
Lyakhov studied chemistry at Belarus State University, where he completed a diploma in 1974. He later pursued advanced chemical research at the Belarus Technological Institute and completed a doctoral qualification in 1995. His dissertation, devoted to the crystal structure of selected metal ortho- and triphosphates, was in the field of inorganic chemistry and established a research specialization in crystallographic and structural studies.
Lyakhov began his professional career in 1974 as a researcher at the Belarus Academy of Sciences, remaining there until 1985. In 1985 he joined Belarus State University as a main researcher. His subsequent scientific work has been associated with the university's physical-chemical and inorganic-chemistry research environment, including investigations of crystal structures, coordination compounds, metal-organic systems, tetrazole derivatives, and heterocyclic compounds. His research has involved X-ray structural analysis, powder-diffraction studies, and collaborative work with chemists in Belarus and abroad. He has continued to publish as a researcher affiliated with Belarus State University.
Conducted research in the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds, including tetrazole derivatives and related molecular systems.
Investigated the crystal structures of inorganic compounds, including selected metal ortho- and triphosphates, coordination complexes, and metal-organic compounds.
Contributed to X-ray crystallographic and powder-diffraction studies of copper, palladium, and other metal complexes.
