Studied at King’s College, London. In 5th R.I. Lancers, 1870-1874. Central India Horse, 1874-1901.
Was Commandant Imperial Order of the Crown of India Horse and Political Agent, Malwa, 1896-1897, when the C. I. Horse were transferred from the Foreign Department to the Military Department.
Served Afghan War, 1880. Kabul-Kandahar march and battle of Kandahar (medal and clasp and bronze star, despatches). Malakand Field Force,1897-1898, including the operations in Swat Valley, Mohmand country', against the Mahrnoonds and Buneir(medal and clasp, despatches).
Assistant-Quartermaster-General, Punjab Command, India, 1901-1906. Retired, 1909.
