Ordained as colleague in Free Saint John's, Glasgow, 1866. Translated to Free Saint George’s, Edinburgh, as colleague and successor to Doctor Candlish, 1870. Principal New College, Edinburgh, since 1909.
Senior minister of Saint George’s Free Church, Edinburgh.
