In 1930 Alexander was sent to work in Frunze. He was one of the organizers of the Kyrgyz Union of Artists, the Republican Museum of Fine Arts. He initiated the creation of the Fine Arts Museum in Valuiki (1964), to which he donated many of his works (now the Valuisk Historical and Art Museum, a branch of the Belgorod Museum of Art).
Alexander was one of the members of republican, all-Union, international exhibitions since 1934. Also he was the author of genre paintings, portraits, landscapes, dedicated to the people and nature of Kyrgyzstan.
Personal exhibitions of Ignatiev's works took place in Frunze (1945-1986), Belgorod and Valuiki (1979). Ignatev's works presented at the State Tretyakov Gallery, art collections of St. Petersburg, Lviv, Belgorod, Stary Oskol, Bishkek, Tashkent.
