Alexander Petrovich Dovzhenko

Background

Dovzhenko Alexander Petrovich was born in 1894, Vjunische village, now is situated within Sosnitsa town, Chernigov region, Ukraine.

Career

Was working in production studios of Odessa, Kyiv, Moscow since 1926. A scriptwriter and director of the films "Arsenal" (1929), "Earth" (1930), "Aerograd" (1935), "Shchors" (1939) and others. Dovzhenko was in Voronezh in February-May of 1942, he was a literary adviser of the newspaper "Red Army" of the South-Western Front.

Achievements

• Honored Worker of Art of Ukrainian SSR (1939), the People’s Artist of the Russian SFSR (1950), State Award Winner of SSSR (1941, 1949).
