Background
Alexei Nikolaevich Wulf was born on December 17, 1805, in Pushkinogorsky District, Russian Federation. He was the son of Osipova Praskovya Aleksandrovna, Pushkin’s neighbor, and close acquaintance. Brother of Wulf Eupraxia (Zizi), Anna Nikolaevna Wolf, cousin of Kern A.P.
Education
Since 1819, Alexei Nikolaevich lived in Dorpat, studied in military science in the physics and mathematics department of the Imperial University of Dorpat in 1822-1826.
At university, he made friends with Nicholas Yazykov, who dedicated nine poems to him. During his vacations in Trigorskoye, he regularly met with Pushkin who was exiled to neighboring Mikhailovsky. In 1825, Pushkin decided to flee abroad, pretending to be a Wulf's servant. Together with his friend, Pushkin discussed the emerging scenes of Boris Godunov and the chapter of Eugene Onegin. In 1826, Alexei Nikolaevich brought his university friend Yazykov to meet Pushkin, which is captured in several poems of both.
Career
After graduating from university, Alexei Nikolaevich served for several months in the tax department in Saint Petersburg, and then, as Pushkin writes, he entered the Hussars Oran regiment. He was a military officer during the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829 and the campaign against the Polish uprising of 1830. Upon his retirement, Captain Alexei Nikolaevich settled in his native land Trigorsky and was engaged in housekeeping there until the end of his life.
