Background
Alexey Petrovich Chernov was born on June 11, 1908, in Biysk, Altaisky krai, Russian Federation. His father worked as an accountant in the management of the Tomsk Railway, died in 1911. Mother, after the death of her husband, until 1934 worked there as an accountant. She died in 1943 during an evacuation in Kuibyshev.
Education
After graduating from the 8th grade of the 1st Tomsk Polytechnic School of the 2nd level in 1924, Alexey Petrovich entered Tomsk School of Music in the bassoon class, but, after graduating from the 2nd year, in 1926, for health reasons, left the school.
Career
From June to December 1926 Alexey Petrovich worked as an auxiliary worker in the land management artel near Tomsk, and in January 1927 he entered the auxiliary staff of the Tomsk City Theater, where he was until September 1930.
Work in the Tomsk Theater finally strengthened the desire of a young man to become a professional actor, so in September 1930 Alexey Petrovich went to Moscow and entered the theater school at the Theater of the Revolution in the class of Alexei Dmitrievich Popov, which he graduated in 1934 and was accepted into the troupe of this theater, where he worked for one season. In September 1935 Alexey Petrovich moved to the Voronezh Theater, on the stage of which he went 32 years.
In 1964, Alexey Petrovich received an offer from Stanislav Rostotsky to play Maxim Maksimych in the film adaptation of the novel by Mikhail Lermontov “Hero of Our Time”, which changed his whole future life. An elderly charming actor appeared on the domestic movie screens, who immediately occupied his niche there. He began to act in film from film to film and, in the end, decided to leave the theater for the sake of cinema. In 1967, Alexey Petrovich moved to Moscow and became a full-time actor in the Gorky Film Studio.
