He graduated from the Petrograd commercial College (1913). He studied at the faculty of social Sciences of Leningrad state University (1923-1925), at Leningrad komvuz (1926-1928).
He was doing party, cultural and educational work. He was engaged in literary activity since 1922. Deputy Director, artistic Director of the Studio "Soviet Belarus" (1935-1939). The author of many plays, as well as the script of the film "Balty" (1937; together with A. Stein), the libretto of the musical Comedy "Dve vesny" (Leningrad, 1938) and other works. The narrative "Baltiyskaya slava " is published in the magazine "Zvezda " (1957, № 10).
