He was awarded the Knight"s Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World World War World War II Alfred Titschkus was a Vehicle commander in the 3rd Steamship Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion, Steamship Division Totenkopf when he was awarded the Knight"s Cross in December 1944 while serving on the Eastern Front.
