Entered 57th Regiment, 1871. Served as Adjutant in Zulu War (medal and clasp), 1879. Served on Staff in Suakin Campaign (medal and clasp, Khedive’s star), 1885.
Commanded 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment, and afterwards 5/68 Regimental District, Newcastle. Special Sendee South African Campaign. Assistant-Adjutant-General 2nd Division, and commanded Kimberley District (despatches twice, Queen’s medal, 4 clasps, King’s medal, 2 clasps, Companion of St. Michael and St. George). Late Middlesex Regiment.
