TUCKER, Alfred Brook was born on June 19, 1861. Son of late Alfred Tucker (Scholar Magdalene College, Cambridge, Indian Civil Servant, afterwards Tutor, and latterly on staff of the Times) and late Eliza Penkivil, daughter of Reverend William Brook.
Studied at Blackheath School.
Matriculated London University (Honours Division), 1879. Passed for Royal Military College Sandhurst, 1880, but did not go into the army. At the age of 21 went into the city for a few years.
Then went on to the Times staff. Served for a short period on the Daily Graydiic, and then joined the Graphic staff in 1895. Editor of the Graphic, 1906-1908. Editor of the Empire Illustrated since 1910.
