Attached to Korean special mission during Diamond Jubilee, 1897. Served in Cape Colony, Natal, Zululand, Ceylon, Hong Kong, and India.
Deputy-Assistant-Adjutant-General Dublin District, 1897-1900. Doctorate.A.A.G Aldershot, 1900.
Deputy-Assistant-Adjutant-General South African Field Force, 1900-1902.
Served on Military Compensation Commission, South Africa, 1903. Decorated for South African Campaign. Commands 2nd Battalion Argyll and Sutherland (Princess Louise’s) Highlanders since 1907.
