Alfred S. received a public school education, afterward completed a course of technical study at the Armour Institute, and graduated in 1899 with an M. S. degree. Later in that year, he attended classes in architecture at Chicago's Art Institute.
In 1900 Alfred S. entered Dankmar Adler’s office as a student draftsman, and after five years of training there, and two supplementary years working with Samuel Treat, Mr. Aischuler established his own office in 1907.
Active in practice during the remainder of his life, he won recognition in professional circles for the successful execution of a number of important commissions. His works in Chicago include various buildings, commercial and industrial, public structures and churches, notable examples of which were: The Cunard Building; Westminster Office Building; Adams-Franklin Building; Garment Center Building; the Harvester Building; Mercantile Exchange; John R. Thompson Building; Temple Isaiah and the Synagogue for the Sinai Congregation; and the London Guarantee & Accident Insurance Building, completed in 1923, and considered his outstanding achievement in architecture. In addition, he designed the Ledger and Gustin branches of the Chicago Public Library. Mr. Aischuler had been a member of the Chicago Chapter, A.I.A. and the Illinois Society of Architects for more than twenty years. He also served at one time on the Illinois State Board of Architectural Examiners.
