Bennett, Alfred S. was born on June 10, 1854 in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Son of Thomas M. and Zylpha Ann (Finnell) Bennett.

Educational public schools m. Mary V. McCauley, November 7, 1887.

Career

Teacher public schools until 1880. Admitted to Oregon bar, 1880, and practiced at The Dalles. Associated in defense of the United States Senator John H. Mitchell, Congressman John N. Williamson, and others, in “land fraud cases”.

Judge 4th Judicial Circuit, Oregon, 1882-1884. Justice Supreme Court of Oregon, November 1918-November 1920, resigned and resumed practice.
