Two daughter Trained as engineer at Midland Railway Works, Derby, later under Lord Armstrong’s Company. Started the Haslam Engineering Works, Derby, 1868. First to invent, manufacture, and to fit up Haslam’s patent refrigerating plant in Colonies to freeze and chill meat and dairy produce, and to fit up the machinery and cold chambers on board ship and on shore, which established an important business in conveying perishable food from the Colonies to Great Britain.
Mayor of Derby, 1890-1891, when he received His (or Her) Majesty Queen Victoria when she paid a State visit to the town.
