Behmen previously served as Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2001 to 2003. Behmen was elected mayor of Sarajevo in January 2009. He finished his bachelor"s degree, master"s degree and doctorate degree in economics at the University of Sarajevo.
He is also a professor at the University of Sarajevo.
