Ali majored in organic chemistry at high school and studied English literature at the university. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Shakespeare Studies.
Alo is a Shakespearean Scholar, Qur'anologist, lexicographer, human rights activist, political commentator, translator and Assistant Professor at the University of Tehran. Ali has written extensively on gender, discourse, Shakespeare, postcolonial literature and human rights.
In 2003, Salami started working at the international English-language Tehran Times Daily as chief editor in while simultaneously working as an editor in chief with semi-official Mehr News Agency.
