Alice Sheppard finished her studies at Mills College, earning her Bachelor of Arts in 1966. In 1968 she graduated from Clark University with Master of Arts and in 1971 she received Doctor of Philosophy from the same university.
Mrs. Sheppard joined the staff of Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, where she began as an instructor, and later became an assistant professor of psychology, 1970-1973. She was a visiting fellow of Educational Testing Service in 1971 and 1973. She was an assistant professor of psychology at Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI, from 1973 to 1976. Between 1976 and 1978 Alice Sheppard worked at California State University, Fresno, serving as a lecturer in psychology.
During 1977-1979 she resumed her office as faculty member at California School of Professional Psychology. Between 1979 and 1987 Mrs. Sheppard acted as an associate professor of psychology at Eastern Oregon State College, La Grande. She worked at Oregon State University as an adjunct faculty member from 1981 till 1982. During the years of 1982-1983 Mrs. Sheppard was a state speaker of Oregon Committee for the Humanities. Later she became a member of Grande Ronde Symphony. In 1987-1990 Alice Sheppard occupied the post at Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA, being an assistant professor of psychology.
In 1988 she was appointed lecturer at Susquehanna University. Between 1990 and 1991 Mrs. Sheppard served as an adjunct faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Technology. In the years 1991-1994 she was an assistant professor of psychology at State University of New York College at Fredonia. In 1991 she also became a visiting assistant professor at State University of New York College at Geneseo.
Since 1995 Alice Sheppard held the position of an assistant professor of psychology at University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Alice Sheppard is an author of slide programs, contributor to books, including Women's Comic Vision; Politics, Gender, and the Arts; Aesthetics in Feminist Perspective. She is a contributor of articles and reviews to periodicals, including Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, Child Development, Psychological Reports, Journal of Gerontology, Journal of American Culture, and Studies in American Humor.
Alice Sheppard married Robert J. Klak on December 19, 1982. He died on July 28, 1993. Then she married Gary M. Boone, a college professor, on May 19, 1995.
