In 1829 entered High School in Saint-Petersburg, which he left soon. At the age of 16 Pagoski was taken to a military service.
In 1843 he was resigned at the military rank of the second lieutenant and for some time had been working as a broker in the Department of ship timbers. Regular journey through Russia gave him an opportunity of close introduction of life of Russian people and enriched his material for work. After the dissolution of the department in 1859 he was dismissed and plunge into literature and spiritual activity. In addition, in 1858 he was invited to issue magazine “Soldier’s Talks”, which he had been editing till 1863. In 1862 Pagoski started publishing a magazine “national talks”. Smal-sized books included the information about the events of human life of that period, official chronicles, besides fiction works – everything available for people’s understanding. Among the co-editors were Maikau, Niakrasau, Sliaptsou and other writers. In 1867 he created a new magazine “Leisure time and business”, which had a considerable success (it was publishing even after the writer’s death). In his works, written in alive folk language, he had an idea of the necessity of writing and education for a simple man. He considered enlightenment as the main thing that connected people. He’s the author of the poems “Incapable person”, “A light addition”, “What must be, must be” and others. The complete collection of his works came out in 4 volumes in 1899-1901.
