Belarusian critic. A member of Belarusian Writer’s Union since 1980.
Background
She was born in a lawyer family. In the thirties her parents went to Chukchi Peninsula and Kamchatka, then, her father was transferred to Vladivostok and later to Khabarovsk. In Khabarovsk region A. Semenova lived with her mother during the war, while her father was at the front. In 1944 family returned to Belarus. They lived in Vilejka and Novogrudok.
Education
In Novogrudok A. Semenova finished secondary school (1955) and entered BSU.
Career
After she graduated from the university (1960) she worked as a corrector, revision corrector in publishing house “Science and technology” under Academy of sciences of Belarus (1960-1962), after Alla was an editor and a a senior editor in
philological editorial staff at press newsletter “Communal services and amenities of Belarus” (1968-1972), then, Alla Semenova was an editor and a senior editor of publishing house “Fiction” (1972-1986). From 1986 she works at the editorial
staff of “Neman” magazine. She began to publish from 1966. Writing literary reviews and theatre notices, literary surveys, articles, sketch-essays to creative portraits of modern prose writers and poets (books “Hot track of talent”). Her articles were printed in magazines “Fire”, “Youth”, “Neman”, “Literary review”, in newspapers “Star”, “Literature and art”, “Soviet Belarus”, “Evening Minsk”, “The voice of the motherland”, “Banner of the youth”, “Literature newspaper”.
