Jenks, Almet Francis was born on May 21, 1853 in Brooklyn. Son of Grenville Tudor and Persis Sophia (Smith) Jenks.

Education

He graduated from Yale University in 1875, where he was a member of Skull and Bones, and earned an Bachelor of Laws from Columbia University in 1877.

Career

Admitted to bar, 1877. Assistant district attorney, Kings County, 1884-1886. Corporate Counsel, Brooklyn, 1886-1893.

Judge advocate general, New York, 1891-1895. Member Constitutional Convention, 1895. Assistant Corporate Counsel, Greater New York, in charge of Brooklyn office, 1898.

Justice Supreme Court of the New York, since 1898. Appointed to Appellate Division, 1900, reapptd., 1905, presiding justice, 1911-1912. Reappointed Justice Supreme Court of the New York for term expiring December 31, 1926.
