Educated in Italy, he returned to his native city and pursued a career there. A favorite of Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha, he had a significant role in Ottoman foreign relations while the latter was Grand Vizier. Sent by the sultan with troops into Transylvania, he was besieged in the Mediaș citadel by a joint force loyal to Ștefan Mailat and Peter IV Rareș before being killed.
