Alston Hamilton, American army officer. Served in Cuba, Spanish-American War (silver star citation for gallantry at El Caney), later in Philippines (silver star for gallantry at Calamba); member and president Artillery Board for a number of years, later.

Hamilton, Alston was born on October 20, 1871 in near Oxford, North Carolina, United States. Son of Robert Alston and Martha Elizabeth (Venable) Hamilton.

Education

Preparatory education, University School, Petersburg, Virginia. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1894. Graduated from Army War College, Washington, 1914, again 1922.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant United States of America, June 12, 1894. Promoted through grades to brigadier general, January 19, 1927.

Membership

Served in Cuba, Spanish-American War (silver star citation for gallantry at El Caney), later in Philippines (silver star for gallantry at Calamba). Member and president Artillery Board for a number of years, later.
