Began banking in 1853 and was clerk and officer in country bank till 1880. With National Bank of N. America, 1880-1899. President N. American Trust Company, 1899-1900.

President 9th National Bank of New York until its consolidation with Citizens’ National Bank.

Member of Executive Committee American Bankers’ Association, 1896-1899, president 1900-1901.
