Raised in an orphanage. 1930 first work published. 1931 given his own verse column in the newspaper “Leninskaya molodyozh’”.
1937 translated into Kir Pushkin’s Skazka o pope i rabotnike yego Balde (The Tale of the Priest and His Workman Baida), Krylov’s fables, and Lermontov’s verse. 1948 translated Pushkin’s “Yevgeniy Onegin”. 1949 translated Shakespeare's “Othello”.
1951 translated Shota Rustaveli’s “The Knight in the Tiger Skin”.
