He is a former Mexican National Light Flyweight and the WBC Light Flyweight Champion. Amado won the Mexican National Light Flyweight Championship by upsetting veteran German Torres in a twelve round unanimous decision. On February 6, 1982 in Panama City, Panama Amado Ursua won his WBC Light Flyweight Championship by upsetting a one loss Hilario Zapata by K.O. in the second round.
