Career
A retainer of Lord Yukinaga Konishi with the name of Yo- hitsiiKU Masuda, he resided in Yano village, Shimabara in Kyushu after the fall of the family of his lord. He was one of the leaders of Shimabara-no-ran, a revolt of Christians and peasants against the feudal authorities in 1637. The rebels entrenched themselves in Shimabara Fort to fight the daimyo forces. Jimbe-e was killed in action in 1638. His uncle, Gen-satsu Amakusa, a physician, led part of the rebel forces in Hara Fort and was killed when it fell.
