Amalendra Narayan Ghosh

Background

Amalendra Narayan Ghosh was born on January 10, 1911, in the village of Mohw (now Madhya Pradesh, India).

Education

In 1932, Amalendra Narayan Ghosh graduated from Calcutta University as a Bachelor of Science. In 1935, got the Master of Science Degree in Pure Chemistry. In 1939, got a Doctor of Science Degree (Magnacum Laude) at the State's Laboratories for Chemie in Munich.

Career

Amalendra Narayan Ghosh conducted research in unorganische chomatography and specialized in metallurgy. In 1940, Amalendra Narayan Ghosh was an assistant analyst at Calcutta Municipal Corporation. In 1940-1946, he served as Deputy Chief Assayer at the Government of India Mint in Bombay. In 1946-1948, Amalendra Ghosh was a research metallurgist at Indian Standard Metal Company in Bombay. In 1948-1953, he worked as the director of Metallurgical Research and Planning Government of Burma. Then, till 1956, Ghosh was the director of the Government Test House in Alipur, Calcutta. Since 1956, Amalendra Ghosh was the joint director of the Indian Standards Institution in New Delhi.
